Accommodation

Plan in advance!Accommodation in Lausanne is a challenge. More people come to Lausanne than leave, and this has led to a difficult situation for finding reasonably-priced accommodation for students. Finding a studio apartment is quite challenging and the best possibility would be sharing a room with friends or other students. The links below can be useful as a starting point for your search.

  The FMEL has student housing available for Bachelor and Master students that is affordable and can be very well located (depending on the residence). However, there are rarely enough places relative to the number of applications. Applications for accommodation are not accepted continuously and are only opened during certain periods. Check this out early if you plan on coming to Lausanne as a student. It is one of the best possibilities to find reasonable accommodation as a student

  EPFL and UNIL host an accommodation platform for new and returning students Bachelor/Master/PhD students as well as researchers. This platform has advertisements placed by residents of Lausanne looking to rent out a room and occasionally an entire apartment. Can be a very good place to start looking. But competition is high and many reasonably priced rooms get a lot of messages of interest (I used to rent a spare room on the platform for many years).

Studying at EPFL

Among one of the best technical universities in the world. EPFL is the Swiss Federal Institute to technology in Lausanne. Courses are taught in French at the Bachelor level, while certain programs are also available in English at the Master Level. It is located on the outskirts of Lausanne near the lake shore.
